He was awarded the Salon d’Ouessant’s International Island Literature Fiction Award in 2015 for 'The Man with the Compound Eyes' which also won the Prix du Livre Insulaire, and was awarded the Japanese Literary Translation Award for his work 'The Magician on the Skywalk.'

'The Stolen Bicycle' has received unanimous critical praise, with literary critic Bron Sibree calling the novel "a haunting homage to what its author calls, “the unrepeatability of life” and praises his ability to weave a narrative of Taiwan.
