NMTL opens call for ‘2025 Workshop for Translating Taiwan Literature’
The National Museum of Taiwan Literature (NMTL) has announced its call for applications for “A Symphony of Island and Literature: 2025 Workshop for Translating Taiwan Literature,” inviting translators from Taiwan and abroad who are interested in translating Taiwanese literature to participate.
From 2021 to 2024, the NMTL partnered with the Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative Office in the U.K. and the British Centre for Literary Translation (BCLT) to hold the “Workshop for Translating Taiwan Literature” in the U.K.
This year, the program will be held in Taiwan for the first time, set to run from Nov. 9 to 14. The workshop will bring together international translators and publishing house representatives to provide an in-depth course for emerging translators. Participants can look forward to a series of activities involving translation projects, cultural excursions, seminars, forums, and field trips to Indigenous villages.
According to the NMTL, the workshop focuses on both literary translation and cultural immersion, integrating courses, guided tours, and seminars to enhance participants’ skills and professional networks. It also aims to create a vibrant dialogue among translators, editors, and publishers from across the globe and explore the challenges and opportunities in translating Taiwanese literature.

國立臺灣文學館推出「言嶼交響：2025 臺灣文學英譯工作坊」，即日起至 9月 7 日開放報名，歡迎國內、外新銳譯者與有志加入臺灣文學翻譯行列的學子踴躍參加！
2021-2024年臺文館、文化部駐英國代表處文化組、英國文學翻譯中心（British Centre for Literary Translation，簡稱BCLT）連續4年在英國辦理「臺灣文學翻譯工作坊」，培育了許多譯者。延續打下的穩固基礎，2025 年臺文館再次攜手 BCLT，首度移師臺灣，於 11 月 9 日至 14 日推出為期 6 天的「言嶼交響：2025 臺灣文學英譯工作坊」，邀請多位來自國際的譯者及專業出版社代表，為有志投入臺灣文學英譯的新銳譯者量身打造深度專業培訓課程。課程內容包括翻譯實作、文化走讀、專題講座與論壇以及參訪原住民族的部落文學發展場域等，期培育與發掘在地及國外新銳文學翻譯人才，促成更多臺灣文學作品之外譯出版。
臺文館表示，本次工作坊以文學翻譯實作與文化體驗為核心，結合課程、導覽與專題講座，提升學員的翻譯專業能力與人脈網絡。臺灣的文化、歷史與語言具有多元性與複雜性，親臨臺灣不僅能實地感受臺灣文學的豐富面貌，更能促進譯者彼此之間的人脈建立與實際交流。工作坊希望能讓來自世界各地的譯者、編輯與出版業者在此展開深入的對話，探討臺灣文學翻譯的挑戰與機遇，提出臺灣文學翻譯的專業知識與產業洞察。
工作坊由旅居紐約的新加坡籍譯者與小說家程異（Jeremy Tiang）擔任導師，並集結臺灣作家、BCLT 常務總監Anna Goode、韓國金泰成、波蘭Maciej Gaca、日本魚住悅子、英國出版社 Honford Star 、編輯Anthony Bird、捷克風車出版社Větrné mlýny代表Renata Obadálková及策展人Pavel Drábek等國資深譯者與出版專業人士來臺，共同為學員提供專業的指導與實戰經驗。
課程內容涵蓋臺灣文學作家分享、文本翻譯、譯者職涯、出版與版權趨勢等。其中「翻譯暨出版論壇」匯集國際專家討論翻譯與出版市場的最新發展，提供學員與業界互動的機會；移地臺東的課程則與奇努南戶外探索教育合作，邀請亞榮隆‧撒可努等原住民族作家分享創作經驗，並安排參訪原住民族的部落文學發展場域。
本次工作坊將招募20位學員，不限國籍，採線上申請。報名期間自即日起至 9 月 7 日臺灣時間（UTC+8）23:59截止（逾期不受理）。工作坊期間將提供學員保險、食宿及部分交通費用，詳情請參考報名簡章。誠摯邀請國內、外對臺灣文學英譯充滿熱情的新銳譯者，把握此次難得的交流機會。親臨臺灣，體驗多元文化與語言魅力，與全球譯者交流合作。
