Rising in Fire: Hantoo Art Group


Exhibition featuring Taiwan's Hantoo Art Group opens in London

With support from the Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative Office in the UK, Bluerider ART launched the exhibition "Rising in Fire: Hantoo Art Group - The Making of Taiwan's Art History (浴火雁行:悍圖社—臺灣美術史的生命書寫)” in London on Oct. 16. Members of the Hantoo Art Group, including Yang Mao-lin (楊茂林), Wu Tien-chang (吳天章), Lu Hsien-ming (陸先銘), Kuo Wei-kuo (郭維國), attended the opening event.

Founded in 1998, Hantoo Art Group is a prominent collective that holds a significant place in the history of contemporary art in Taiwan.

Taking place through Dec. 31, "Rising in Fire" symbolizes rebirth and reunion after overcoming adversity, reflecting how many Hantoo members-born during a turbulent era-devoted their lives to pioneering artistic expression in Taiwan. The exhibition is presented across two venues: the main exhibition at Bluerider ART in Mayfair, London, and a satellite exhibition at the Taipei Representative Office in the UK It features over 60 works by 13 artists.

The Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative Office in the UK noted that the exhibition seeks to encourage independent art organizations to build international networks and strengthen the dialogue between Taiwanese fine arts and the global art community.
