Shimmering Production 'Islands'

Taiwanese artist, the Rose Prize 2025 nominee WANG Yeu-Kwn performed at The Place, London with Islands, a dance that captures the tenderness of the earth and our bond with it. Through graceful movement and intimate storytelling, WANG invites audiences to reflect on the ties between humans and the islands we call home. WANG examines what it means to be an islander, tracing our ties to the land and sea in collaboration with Indonesian dance artist Danang Pamungkas. This performance speaks to our shared connection with the places we inhabit, offering a glimpse into the beauty and power of this relationship.

Islands is a co-commission by National Theatre and Concert Hall, and National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying); the piece also received residency support from Kinosaki International Arts Center (Toyooka City, Japan) and The Place (London, UK), and is sponsored by FACP - Clare C. & Friends Fellowship. Supported by the Ministry of Culture, Taiwan.
