Open Call: NTMoFA International Residency Program 2026
The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMoFA), Taiwan, announces an open call for the International Residency Program 2026, inviting international arts
professionals to apply. The program aims to promote international exchange and advance research on NTMoFA’s collections by opening the Museum’s institutional and research resources to artists, curators, art historians, critics, theorists, and museum professionals. NTMoFA particularly welcomes proposals engaging with its collections, Taiwanese art history, Taiwanese artists, and Technology Art.
Residency Period
The residency will take place from September 3 to October 22, 2026, with a required duration of 30 to 50 days.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
• Be non–Republic of China (Taiwan) nationals
• Not be currently enrolled students
• Have at least five years of relevant professional experience
• Demonstrate familiarity with NTMoFA, its collections, and Taiwanese art and culture
• Have not received NTMoFA residency support within the past two years
• Possess basic communication ability in English or Chinese
Support
NTMoFA provides:
• One round-trip economy-class airfare to Taiwan
• Local transportation between the airport and the Museum
• Insurance reimbursement (up to NTD 5,000)
• A daily residency allowance covering research/creation-related expenses and basic living costs, determined by academic status: NTD 5,350 for general researchers, NTD 7,130 for associate professors, and NTD 8,915 for professors
• Free studio space
• Access to the NTMoFA Art Library
• Conditional access to collection storage facilities for research and observation
Obligations
The selected resident is required to:
• Organize at least one public program or presentation every 15 days (e.g. workshops, lectures, open studios)
• Present one public final presentation before the end of the residency
• Submit a final report within 14 days after the residency (minimum 3,000 Chinese characters or 1,500 English words), granting NTMoFA rights for
educational, research, publication, and public use Selection
• 1–2 selected residents, 2 alternates
Selection is conducted through a two-stage review process, including written review and online interviews.
