Revisit some of the best Taiwanese cultural events held across the UK
Themed as “Encounter Taiwan and the World”, Taiwan Film Festival in Scotland 2025 takes place in Glasgow. The festival aims to foster dialogue between Taiwanese cinema and Scotland’s cultural landscape, presenting Taiwan’s unique perspectives on global issues.
As part of Dance Umbrella 2025, Tjimur Dance Theatre brings <bulabulay mun? / how are you?> to The Place, London. Tjimur Dance Theatre is Taiwan’s premiere contemporary dance company dedicated to exploring and expressing the identity of the indigenous Paiwan people.
Bluerider ART launched the exhibition "Rising in Fire: Hantoo Art Group” in London, representing the prominent artist collective in Taiwan. Featuring over 60 works by 13 artists, the exhibition strengthens the dialogue between contemporary Taiwanese fine arts and the global art community.
Hayward Gallery collaborated with Taiwan’s RC Foundation to host "Val Lee: The Presence of Solitude," presenting Taiwanese artist Val Lee's first solo exhibition in the UK. It features Lee’s video works, photography, and installations that explore themes of isolation and solitude.
The Garden Cinema in London present Taiwanese Cinema: Now and Then 2025. The program features over 20 screenings of classics and contemporary works by acclaimed Taiwanese directors, bringing U.K. audiences closer to Taiwan’s rich cinematic heritage and vibrant film culture.
Taiwan Season has been a prominent feature at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe since 2014, bringing Taiwanese dance, theatre, and live performance. Over the decade, it has developed a strong and sustained presence, offering international audiences a glimpse into Taiwan’s vibrant and diverse cultural landscape.
The Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative Office in the UK, in collaboration with the Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture initiative, presents the “Taiwan Focus” program, featuring Taiwanese performing arts groups D_Antidote Production and S. Production, which marks Taiwan's first-ever participation in this iconic cultural event.
Liverpool Biennial 2025, one of the world’s most prominent contemporary visual art exhibition officially opened on 7th June. Taiwanese artist ChihChung Chang (張致中) is invited to exhibit his stunning works, “Port of Fata Morgana” and “Keystone” , alongside more than 30 groups of international artists.
Supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Queer East Festival 2025 features several Taiwanese films, shorts, artists, and writer to showcase the lively LGBTQ+ culture in Taiwan. The festival's feature film program includes nearly 20 Taiwanese works, this diverse lineup highlights Taiwan's cinematic exploration of themes such as gender identity.
Co-organized by Taiwan's Ministry of Culture and British Film Institute, "Myriad Voices: Reframing Taiwan New Cinema" took place at BFI Southbank in London. The Taiwanese season featured 15 films across 30 screenings, aiming to paint a fuller picture of this vibrant film movement and also shift the spotlight towards lesser known but vital contributors.
